The concept for Artfully Blessed was born from my first mission trip to Honduras. While touring some of the poorest areas of Tegucigalpa, I discovered grace and poverty side-by-side. It was both amazing and heartbreaking to see the indomitable spirits of the wonderful, hardworking women in this area. After meeting several women in desperate need of an opportunity to build a better life, a kernel of an idea formed.
Then, following a side trip to Honduras artist’s colony, the idea blossomed. If I could bring the beautiful works of the talented Honduran people to market in the United States, I could make a difference in people’s lives, one purchase at a time.
After learning more about the Honduran culture and the fair trade movement, it became clear to me that there was an opportunity to bring beautiful, handcrafted works to market in the US. By contributing a portion of all profits to charitable organizations that support poor women and children in developing nations, each purchase can contribute to a better life for someone who hasn’t enjoyed the same opportunities that I have been blessed with in my life.
Today, Artfully Blessed celebrates the fact that no matter who we are or where we live, we are all blessed with talents that can be shared for the greater good. I hope you’ll join us in celebrating these gifts and sharing the abundance of our blessings.
